This is the free chick that came with my Golden Buff Pullets from Meyer. Rhode Island Red? Pullet?

Thanks,
Phil

Doesn't look like a RIR. A RIR wouldn't have those stray differently-colored feathers, they'd be smooth red all over--even a hatchery quality RIR. My best guess would be New Hampshire Red--IME, hatchery quality NHR are more likely to have those stray feathers. What color was the bird as a chick, red or yellowish?

I believe that Meyer sends free pullets with layer hen orders, as that would be in the spirit of the "meal maker" program--to have people donate eggs. At least that's what they've told me in the past. But a shot showing its face would be nice.

Thanks for the replies. Here is what I grabbed with my phone. I can get a closer one if you want. She (hopefully) was a reddish brown color as a chick. I think I have a picture somewhere. I'll post it when I find it.

Maybe a production red? However, the hatchery doesn't say they offer PRs, I guess time will tell. Thanks for the replies

I think she's a New Hampshire Red. I got the Brown Egg Layer Assortment from Meyer and there's noticeable difference between my Rhode Island Reds and what I believe are New Hampshires. I couldn't tell the difference as day old chicks, I thought I got all RIR until they started feathering out.
