Hi - I am new to BYC and my husband is going to be building this coop with a few modifications. We are going to get 3 chicks in a few weeks and our city code lets us have a maximum of 4 hens. Here's my question - if we are are only going to have 3-4 hens ever at one time, is it okay to only have 1 nesting box? I don't see why we would need to build 3 nesting boxes which are what the plans call for. Thanks for any advice!

Most of the time, my 3 gals share the same box. If all 3 lay that day, I'll almost always find all 3 eggs in the same box. I think you'll be fine with only one but I'm fairly new here myself and there are others that may argue something different. Welcome aboard
