FREE chicken coop plan (nice one too) on the Purina Mills Website

Okay, I appreciate the encouragement. I'm going to get on it sometime this week. I just found a teeny pullet egg from one of my 16 weekers in the big hen nesting box. They need more space!

Oh, and we are in Ohio too. Just south of Columbus.

Okay Im having problems with the floor. Im going to 'try' to start building this this weekend. Im sure Im just over thinking this, but it still has me stumped right now.

I get the first step of screwing the two 2x4's together to get the 'v' for the corners. But how is it that the floor(piece of plywood) is attached to the corner and side 2x4's? Do you take a screw and drill it into the thin side of the plywood? Im not good with building things so I need something really detailed, but sadly these plans dont go into detail at all.

Hi Havi- in response to your floor question, you need to build a frame (like shown on the upper left page of the plans) for the plywood first-I am just putting the roof on my coop from these exact plans (I just made mine 8' x 4') , so I am very familiar with them!!

You actually start with the framed "base". then add the plywood floor covering, THEN add the L-shaped legs, and then the second round of 2x4 pieces to fit on the outside of the floor frame, in between the legs. I don't have any pictures from that step, but the paragraph in between the top two diagrams explain it well. I don't have any construction experience either, and I managed to do it ALL by myself!! I will need some help moving it though.

I am going to load some pics to my BYC page in few minutes, so check it out!

I built my coop using this plan, except I doubled the size to accommodate 12 birds.

Here's a video of the first batch of birds moving in and checking out their new digs.

Thanks for sharing! Great info. This may be just the ticket for a second, smaller coop. It's time to get our 2 bantams out of the pent w/ the larger birds. We have some silkies in the bator for future company for them.

I just watched your video, what kind of chicken is that white one? Or, is it a chicken? Lol. I feel silly asking but I haven't seen a chicken like that.

It's an Ameraucana, aka Araucana, aka Easter Egg Chicken since they lay green and blue eggs.

Im about to start building mine. I have at least three I need to build. Trying to figure out where I want to make improvements at. Anyone else building this coop right now? Or any new pictures?
