Free chicks in mid-east Texas

sorry...no fun around here..lol...out in the middle of nowhere...I wonder if fed-ex or ups could get them to me in a day?? I really would like a couple...

I would love some of the blue cochins, but hubby says no more chickens

I'm going to work on him some cause I really want some, but I doubt it will work.

Morgaine - you have a few weeks to work on hubby. Stay in touch. If these chicks are as nice as the photos I saw of the parents, they should be nice!

Funkychicken - what is the nearest town, or nearest Dairy Queen, to you? I know it's ok to ship day-old chicks because they're still digesting the yolk, but these chicks are eating. How old is too old to ship? Can you meet me somewhere near you? Or is there someone near you I could take them to, who would then take them to you? I have two chicks now: one gold, one silver, and I'm going to see how the last three eggs are doing this afternoon. How many chicks do you want? If you've been looking for SLWs and GLWs I'd like to give you all of them (max 5).

BTW: both of y'all need to know that these are unsexed chicks, and I don't know what you're getting. And they are not vaccinated (A&M said that doesn't matter).

Does anybody out there at BYC know how I can send 3, 4, and 5 day old chicks on a four hour trip?

oh...i am sorry for taking your time...I have to get girls only...my neighbours would not appreciate roosters...darn!! missed out again..lol

It is too hot this time of year to ship adults or chicks over a day old. The Post Office has temperature guidelines on live shipping. Not sure about UPS or FedEx, but I imagine they do too.

IMHO It is actually too hot to ship day old chicks, but they seem to do OK.

I live less than an hour and a half away and I go to Bryan/College station about once a month. I would love to have any extra chicks that go unclaimed. Just e-mail me and let me know, anything but the ducks. I just sold all my geese because they loved to play to much in my goats water and i think ducks would do the same, lol.

Thanks,
Ray

Thanks Allan Wranch - I was thinking that, too.

Funkychicken, with the shipping issues and the sexing issues, it's probably not going to work. I'm sorry. You DID NOT waste my time. It was good to hear from someone who like Wyandottes!

Ray, I just got two more chicks!! The tally now is four GLW and one SLW. One more egg is in the 'bator, but it has not pipped. I'll check again at the end of the day, and again on Monday.

I can keep the chicks until your next trip, or I can meet you somewhere next week. The first to hatch has already bonded with my week-old BOs, and she sits and stares at them from her brooder. I say "she" in a hopeful kind of way. Are you ok with roos, too? Are you interested in all of my extras, or just the Wyandottes?

Any breeds welcome except waterfowl, lol. If your interested, I've got some black spanish turkey eggs in the incubator from my hen that I would be willing to trade back for the chicks if your interested. I'll be going to Producer Co-Op next week for more grain, maybe we can meet up there if your able.
