Free Food

Most chains in California can't let you have it. Big issues after people got sick eating what was supposed to go to animals and eating from the dumpsters. That's why they are locked.

That's really too bad that produce gets wasted rather than giving it to folks with chickens or rabbits or other animals that would love to eat it. For now i buy greens at the 99 cent store. They don't always have a good selection, but sometimes have the same bagged salads you pay $2-3 in the store. They almost always have cabbages and cauliflower heads. One time i hit the jackpot when they had a whole bunch of romaine heads, big ones, three to a package, for only 99 cents!

i just wish i could find a good source for cheap frozen peas for my ducks. Cheapest place i've found so far is Winco, 2# for $1.48.

i saw a news show with Lisa Ling on freegans. They went behind stores and restaurants and collected perfectly good food that had been thrown out. i think it was filmed in New York. Wish we could do that here.

Try grocery outlets. Most have produce and some produse stands will let you take what they've tossed after they clean their things up to display.
