Yes, I got paperwork, thanks for asking. The wound is healing nicely and I think the extra attention is helping her too. I gave my neighbor a good website to read and study, www.naturalhorsetraining.com. There is a phenomanal (sp?) amount of info especially in the Q & A part. To her credit, she is studying and trying to learn. She has bought books as well. A few days ago she helped me doctor up the filly and afterwards we were standing around talking. My lead mare decided the filly was in the wrong palce at the hay ring and bared her teeth. The filly, Dallas, (don't you just love her new name?) turned tail and Sparkles chomped down on the retreating butt. What she got was a mouthful of yellow salve goo and she curled up her lip to let every one know it tasted nasty. I laughed at their antics and pointed it out to my neighbor. She got all excited and said, "Oh look, Sparkles is checking on Dallas's wound to see how it is healing!"

Nooo..... Sparkles don't give a crap about Dallas's wound......and there ensued a patient explanation of people humanizing large animals and attributting to them human behaviors of which they do not have. I explained to her about herd dynamics and leadership, social structure and so on. Sigh........
I told her there will be no "cute" behavior, little horses grow up and get big and they can do some serious damage because of "cute" behavior. There must be mutual respect on both sides so she can enjoy her horse without fear of getting hurt by a bratty animal.

Best analogy I can come up with- Horses are like 1,200 pound toddlers. They have to learn manners and they will try you to see what they can get away with.
