Free pumpkins for chooks (and their people)

I went to a produce stand today and asked if they had pumpkins. They were getting rid of what they had left and let me take what I wanted. I took 2: one for chooks and 1 for the humans! The pumpkins were out back so I had to ask.

Run to a produce stand & get yer free post-Halloween pumpkins!

I'm going to roast the seeds and can some pumpkin cubes (yes canning people, I know... no puree!).

the chooks will get the guts & a pumpkin in their run on Monday while I'm at work.

mine love pumpkins too, just remember they turn the yolks really orange. Nothing to be grossed out over, but fair warning.

Feed mine a pumpkin yesterday for the first time and they went nuts over it. Ate the outer shell and everything. How long before I can feed another? Once a week you think? Pumpkin is suppose to be a natural wormer.

It's the seeds that are considered a wormer.

My girls will get jsut 1 pumpkin b/c I don't anticipate getting any more.

They got a little bonus yesterday b/c I reached over the neighbor's fence as was able to reach some of the remaining grapes on their arbor.
