free range chickens.....help

Quote:
My Ameraucanas loved to roost way high in the tree, so we would get our 50 ft. extension ladder and chase them down every night last summer. There are too many owls around our place at night. They would not have a chance. I hear them hooting back and forth right outside our house most nights. I'm sure they know the chickens are there. They just can't get to them when they are all locked up. I tried keeping them cooped up to break the cycle. I hope you have better luck than me.

thanks to all! I did notice that they do wonder more I let them out the first time and they stayed around the coop.after a few times they started going near the fence thats when i got worried.I did clip one of the wings but still don't trust it. so I sell some of my eggs so are they no longer free range. what the difference between mine and the store bought once.
