Free range chickens, want to limit their space however.

Here is one for you. A small flock of American Dominiques,that are free range. I have 5 acres with pasture and gardens ( that are fenced). Usually the birds stay in the area becouse of the red tailed hawks but now they have decided to visit the neighbor's house, which is a bout an 1/8 of amile away! To make a long story short I am thinking of running a jumper off my electric fence and run it chicken hieght off the ground to keep these plant diggers on the property. Should I go thru the hassle? It will be a straight run and won't be that hard to do. I think it would work great, just wanted to get another input or idea on this.

Worth a shot. Might have to run two wires once you get to where you want to create the definite boundary. Be interesting and the cheapest way. One one hand, I'll be surprised if it works when they figure out they can fly right over. Good luck.
