free range flock

I've heard that they do sometimes but chickens are usually quicker and know to stay away from the pigs. We also have horses living wiith our birds.

hmm,, mating too much is bad for our flock since it means that the rooster will get too possessive over too many females. I try to let all the boys live that I possibly can. My roosters are all chosen strictly for personality, i watch those boys like a hawk to see if theyre good or bad. i keep the roos that can get along together and work together, not only with their peer but with the xisting flock, to search for predators.
Some of the smaller roos do not mate much of the year, but they get a bit matey in Spring. During Spring time i lock 'em up. heh

queen of the flock, Penguin, frizzled Lorp
in Voodoo it is a cleansing spell to have a frizzled black chicken walk amidst an area

bf's favorite eggs are the Ameracauna blue ones

they really are adorable! I love that light buff colored roo! I am not an expert, but If you think he has a good personality, keep him, and if you see him mating too much or too rough, a little 'solitary confinement' can really change his behavior.
