I think I am going to end up free ranging my 12 ducks seeing that it will be too hard to maintain their run and it will be overall cleaner. The problem is that I have two different breeds. I really don't want them to cross breed, but with free ranging it is impossible. I dont want mutts because I dont think anyone will buy mutt eggs or ducklings since they are not a pure breed. Also, I'm worried if they are out all day and in during the night that if a mother goes broody and makes a nest outside the coop that something will get her if i let her remain on the nest throughout the night...what should I do?

Are you going to be selling ducklings and hatching eggs all or most of the year? If it is for a limited time you could keep them penned with their own breed until you have all the eggs you want and let them free range the rest of the time. Or you could have a duck house for each breed at night, plus one pen, and let them take turns free ranging every other day.
