when did everyone start free ranging their chIcks? my chicks are nine weeks old

My roosters area barred and black Cochin they are both nice I got lucky since all my chicks were suppose to be pullets so if I ended up with some roosters I am happy it was the 2 I got

Love my lakenvelders they hop on my back when ever I Neal down along with my pearl white leghorns
