Free Ranging and Predators, some questions

Don't forget the first worst, neighborhood kids. Unsupervised. We spent thousands fencing and building them a secluded hoop run where they're not as visible to the neighborhood kids. The old saying goes, "good fences make good neighbors" may be true, but its costly. We built the fence to keep kids and dogs OUT, not so much to keep our chickens IN, they stay close to their coop and food to within 80feet. But kids don't understand boundaries, and if their parents don't teach them, we have to. While we're not home, we often keep them in their hoop run.

A big benefit of the hoop style run, is bean plants/vines are flowery, produce food, and make a lovely shade for the chickens! The heart shaped leaves let in some sun, but its cool and dappley shaded under there. I have plans, oh yes I do, for a wire work peaked hoop for my chickens, much like a victorian terrarium, but big, in my yard, sheltering chickens!
