Free ranging birds

Hi all,
I love to let my chickens and ducks free range around our land but is there any way to deter them from certain areas, besides fencing!
I'm a bit over bird poo on my decking and steps!!

Unfortunately fencing them in or out is the only way. You can chase them out all you want, they will come back. I've tried decoys, but that's only temporary. I have since given up trying to tell my birds where to range. Either you accept it or you keep them locked up.
