Free ranging cat and chickens?

So you let your cat roam the neighborhood killing birds and who knows what? So maybe she does not attack your chickens but what IS she doing all day? Who's pets is she stalking? It is just wrong to let cats roam.

My 2 cents

Gary

I politely disagree and know mine roam I quit feeding the wild birds out front because it was not fair to lead them to slaughter ... I also know from experience they cannot be trusted with peeps or they are dinner to them

So how is it different from letting a dog loose in the neighborhood?

As pet owners we are responsible to keep our animals on our own property.

I totally understand where you're coming from and when I lived in the city I would never consider letting my cat outside. But I live out in the woods now and I have 5 Acres and my neighbors are really spread out and some have roaming cats of their own.. I have her collared and microchipped, she's lived a happy 4 years out here so far

Allowing domestic cats to kill native birds because they enjoy it is terrible pet ownership in my opinion. Cats are responsible for the decline of many native species. Fluffy killing machines. If you want a cat do what is necessary to prevent it killing wildlife. My two cents as well.

My cats don't care. They like their feathered friends. But the chickens get a little mad at the cats. They often chase them around the backyard.
