Free ranging Chukars

I have a lone Jumbo ringneck male who one day go out of his pen(sheep with horns shredded the fence......) and took up residence in my chicken coops with the chickens, ducks and turkeys. He also free ranges with the chickens and comes back in when I shake the feed bucket(he runs faster then the chickens for that), first ever ringneck that got loose that did not take off on me.

Our neighbour tried to have his chukars free range, it lasted about a month and then they came through our property and disappeared in the woods to be never seen again.

I still hope they stick around. After removing the Guinea from my flock the Chukar have stepped up as the guards of the flock.

Very doubtful. They seem to recognize her (my dog ) as their protector. They fly back to the pin at the site of another dog, cat, or large bird in the air then the chickens follow them.

Very cool! Chukars are so finicky, I would be afraid to let them out around other fowl and the dirt like that.. lol.

I do have a little male bobwhite that does the same thing though.. Some gamebirds can be pretty sweet!

Well Sadly the tail of the free ranging chukar has ended
