Free Ranging does not mean no fences

Maybe they look at us and say"Oh s--t that's a big ugly chicken!"

I've had 2 black snakes in my chicken yard. The first one killed my baby roo and the second one was the very next day! We rehome snakes, even the one that killed by lil boy. I found a cooperhead (not in the coop) I let that one be. I'm not even trying to get bit. He was not near the chickens and was gone the next day. I think when it comes to snakes, we see them and say "Oh S__t a snake" and they see us and think "Oh S__t a human".

Haha. I got that look from a squirrel who didn't know I was there. It jumped down from a tree on to the fence, I looked at it, it took half a look at me and didn't even finish landing on the fence and was back scurrying up the tree.

Yep, My flock free ranges without any fence of any kind. While the USDA may have their guidelines for what they consider free range, I think most country folk know better and raise their birds for the very reasons of true freedom, and the ability to catch and eat living food wether it is bugs or green grass. Backyard flocks are the true meaning of free range birds and the Gov is way off base as usual...... your not suprised are you?
