Is this normal for chickens to do. We free range them about 75% of the time and it’s been raining all day here but they seem to love it and won’t go back in the coop.

My chickens do that too. It’ll be raining, and they’ll either keep walking around, or find a nice spot outside to wait it out. They rarely do back into the coop, unless it’s bad weather.

When I let my chickens out they will stay out if it's a light rain, but if it starts pouring most of them will run back to the coop, like pretty much everyone else has said lol. If you have a few dunces in your flock, you might want to keep an eye out in case the rain gets heavy. I've heard of chickens looking up and drowning themselves, particularly Silkies. My red cochin, Rosie, is a little 'slower' than the others ( I love her to death though) and I have to go out there and put her up if it starts pouring or she'll just sit there. Other than that, they should be fine :D

I have six sex links and they love the light rain! Heavy rain and they usually end up in the barn, but they seem especially excited when all the bugs come out with the light rain. Since they are only free ranged when I'm home, I try to give them the option to be out whenever I can.

They absolutely loved it, especially my big Roo Vinny and my little Roo Ghost. Most of the girls stayed under the tree
