free ranging quail???

Quote:
what type of quail? Coturnix and button quails shouldnt be released as they're not meant to survive like that. When used for hunting they (coturnix) are normally recaptured quickly.

Bobwhite and other species if released almost normally need a permit. And yeah they'll probably wander off looking for shelter.

i know a lady who does free range her bobwhites and they dont wander far .
She dumps some feed and they come flying and running to her . i never thought it could be done but i was proved wrong .

We have Coturnix in with our chickens. I let the chickens out most afternoons and leave the door open. Sometimes the quail will go out, but not very often. They stick around and go back in at night. They've become tame enough to pick up most of the time.
