I free range my birds during the day and coop them at night
We have big dog bowls filled with water scattered over the 3 acres they range in, along with the water buckets in the coop. Since the property is completly fenced (horse wire) we really dont have to worry about loose dogs a lot, but they have cars, bushes and bulidings to get under in case of a hawk attack (of which we have at least 2 a month).
