I've been thinking about getting some bantam cornish chickens, for meat and egg purposes. If I can free-range them during the days, I'm definately getting some. I wasn't sure if I could free-range them. If I can, how would one go about doing it without the fear of them running off?

How well do they get around? Can they get away from a predator? If they're anything like the cornish X's, they'd be like sitting ducks for predators. What about a moveable tractor?

No, definately not cornish x. Cornish bantams are very mobile. They're more like a body builder than a 500lb couch potato.

I don't know about the bantam's but the cornish x chickens stay near their coop. Mine free range too, but it's not like they "range" at all...they just kinda plop outside the coop, move a little here and there, but never go far from the food
