I have 2 barred rocks, 2 buff orpingtons, and 2 rhode island reds. All are 2 and a half years old. Between them I am averaging 2-4 eggs most days, occasionally none. This is not enough eggs for our family and we plan to start over with a new and larger flock in the Spring. All the hens are docile and great with kids. If you think they could be a good fit for your home please reach out. :)

Your reason to rehome your existing flock, that is not doing all that bad in the egg department is first I ever heard.
Of course I don't know all the details of your chicken keeping.

So let me fast forward to Spring 2026. Are you planning to get production chicks, all same size, and then not have to worry about integration???
Your chicks will need to grow a considerable amount of time before egg production starts.
If so,,, white leghorns are the most productive, and best feed ratio to eggs of pretty much all breeds. They are medium size chicken that lays good size eggs. Medium size chicken translates to eating less than larger breeds.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:highfive:

Yes, there are other mitigating factors which make the idea of a clean start in the Spring appealing. I was just focusing on telling about the chickens in the post.

I live near Sanford Maine, not far from NH... If I can help. I would be interested in taking them all if you would like.
I have 20 well behaved and varied chickens, they free range and live peacefully with a flock of geese and a few ducks. I have a long run with partitioned corrals for each bird.. and 1 small, 1 med, and 1 large coop that none of them seem to ever want to use! They all are acclimated to new-comers.
I have very good bio-security between my dogs and the geese.
JUst let me know where you are and we can work something out. :D
