ETA-

When I was younger and didn't know anything about chickens I asked my mom "from which eggs do roosters hatch?" And she said "the ones that the roosters lay"

and poor me waiting months and months for my rooster to lay an egg....

Wynette...it does not surprise me. I had someone come to the house to buy 4 dozen eggs one afternoon. They wanted to see the birds that laid the pretty brown and green eggs...so I escorted them down to the run...

I told them quickly which ones laid green eggs and I pointed out my ROOSTER Deville and the woman said...

"Ooooooh does he lay green eggs too" I said " No, that is a rooster" She said " What color are his eggs?" I said "when he lays they are gold and very expensive"

I did not even try to explain to them. Was not worth it.

I have heard "I cannot buy these eggs because they are bad" when I inquired I got "Look, they are green".

I know I've told this before, but every time I think of it, I start chuckling. One night I fell asleep in front of the television. Somewhere in the wee hours the programming switched to one of the TV Shopping programs. I woke up to hear the two prissily fancily dresses hostesses showing off some small decorative poultry statues, speculating on how nice the poultry decor would look in someone's kitchen. They went on to politely debate (agreeing with each other the whole time) as to whether these were male roosters or female roosters. They decided they were female roosters, and a call-in guest agreed with them!

Always treat your basilisk as if it's loaded.

And when someone compares your price to someone else's cheaper one, I always tell them mine is a collector version. It has doubled in value just since I bought it.

Stupid. That's why I am charging so much. I doubled it's value.

So I have a few extra roosters...since I can't "do the deed," I offer them on Craigslist.

So...I put a few out there the other day, and got this response:

Subject: Rooster-Why are you getting rid of Him???

Do you still have him and why don't you want him if he lays so many eggs and is a nice guy?

This is, far and away, the most.....um......er.......hmm.......interesting response I've EVER gotten.

To further make it even more interesting, I never said a WORD about his personality, nor did I mention eggs. SERIOUSLY?

I replied:

Um......this is a rooster (a male) - they do not lay eggs. He's just an extra rooster that I don't need for breeding, so I offered him on Craigslist.

I can't type what I WANTED to reply.
