I am fortunate to live very close to the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine. I just found out that they offer free necropsy service to backyard flock owners when you have multiple sick or dead birds. You can bring in a sick bird for euthanasia and necropsy or a recently deceased bird. Gross findings are back in a day, cultures in five days and a complete necropsy report in two weeks. If I find more sick birds today that is exactly what I plan to do, sad as it is.

Hopefully those of you struggling with losses have the same service available near you.

I have two in isolation being treated with antibiotics, and two more that look like they are getting it. So I think out of 13, four are sick, probably with more to come. The results of the Poultry Respiratory Panel done on my sick roo are due back tomorrow (hopefully) so we will know what we are dealing with.

That's a great deal and opportunity if you need it. It just cost me $75 to get a necropsy done on 3 bantam OEGBs (and since they were bantams they did all 3 for the regular price of one necropsy). It was Marek's.
