The poor box raised that chair. Kept her safe under her flaps. Protected her from the weather and predators (PO). Taught her how to sit. And now you're booting out the box because you have all you need. Maybe we should start a box rescue haven. Any volunteers?
How much can we figure it would cost to raise a box like this? Also, what is the average lifespan? Is it 80 years, like a parrot? or is it shorter? I don't like to commit for that long, because I won't be around in another 80 years and I don't want to put that burden on my children. Is it possible to get long-term care insurance for it?

I'm not sure if I participate in a box rescue haven because of previous negative experience with such groups. One time, I thought that I was doing a good thing, and I was asked to fill out a lengthy application stating if I had any previous experience with boxes, length of ownership, etc. Then, I needed to provide references from the sanitation department, USPS and UPS. I finally gave up when the haven wanted to send a person to inspect my home to make sure that the box would be safe. I mean, c'mon, I had already gotten down on my hands and knees to see if there were any spots that would be dangerous, paying particular attention to areas that were drafty or wet.
I ended up going to a paper mill. I know that it wasn't necessarily the most responsible thing to do, but I got tired of trying to prove that I'd be a responsible owner!
