What surprised me yesterday - there was ice in the horse trough, ice in the dogs' water buckets and the water hose was frozen. BUT - there was no hint of ice on the water dish in the henhouse. The whole east side is open to the elements (covered by welded wire) and there is a window on the west side, so it had to have gotten as cold in there as it was outside... I think. But no ice. Maybe because it was out of the wind? I dunno

There is a lot of hay on the floor, and probably more poop than I would like - but would it generate enough heat to keep the water from freezing?
