Free!Windows in Minnesota(can I use stained glass in a coop?)

speckledhen, If you ever get down to Rome we have a salvage place called Garretts that has just windows and doors and alot of them also Builders salvage has alot of windows also at a very cheap price.....If you know somebody taring down an old house you can get them free...I run across alot of windows but I dont want them here so I never get them.

Speckledhen,
Re-use-it center is a very large business that takes all sorts of used house supplies. People may be remodeling a kitchen, bathroom, porch,etc.. or even tearing down a house and want to get rid of the stuff in the house. It could even be woodwork, woodflooring, sinks, toilets, and yes, even windows. Almost anything.
You could keep you're eyes open for large dumpsters in you're area. My friend and I fixed up an old delapitated boat house for free, by dumpster diving. We got flooring, siding, roofing, wood for the walls, and yes, a perfectly good roll-open window, with a screen. The place doesn't look the same. It's beautiful. The only thing she paid for, was a couple rolls of insulation. My husband built nest boxes out of the scrap wood we found. We also found a 3 foot railing that we made aroost out of. We added hinges and and attached one end to the wall and the side that leans on the floor can be lifted up to clean under it. I will have to take some pictures one of these days and post them.

I'll try to get down to my friends house tomorrow. I got my 1st digital camera for Christmas and will take some picures. The question is, can I figure out how to get them on the computer?

Catalina,
I see you only have 5 chickens. Is that because you can only have that many where you live? I talked to the animal control supervisor, in St. Paul, the other day. We can have up to 6 chickens, but no roosters. I have a feeling once I get my 6, I'm going to want more! Did you get you're chickens in Minnesota? It must not have been a mail order. You usually have to order at least 25 for that.

I ordered from mypetchickens.com

Umm, I can have as many chickens as I want - the neighbors just can't know about it - if you know what I mean.

mypetchickens.com or MPC let you order as few as 3 chicks. I ordered 5 and they sent me 6, but then one died, so now I have 5.

edit to add: I live outside of the Cities.

I have a slew of "free" (misordered) windows, since I have a glass company. The BF plans to use them for a greenhouse and I have some I want to use for a milking room. I wish they were smaller, I'd put some in the coop, but they're so heavy I foresee a capsized coop if I use them there.
