Freecycle Scam!

Ya know, for everyone to start stringing them along would probably be the only way to put an end to this type of scam.. Waste their time and make it totally unworth the effort.

I'm actually kinda hoping I have the opportunity to do that one day.

Last time I posted something (a boat) on craigslist, though, about 95% of the responses I got were serious offers to trade for dogs, guns, four wheelers, motorcycles... Some of the guns were especially...worrisome? I own a bunch of guns, some of which may or may not even still be legal

but people were offering me stuff that I was like...whoa.

Oh when I post on craigs list now I get about 20 e mails with gee, I was in the same position you werre...I had to sell my children's computer etc etc etc.blah blah blah, then I signed up for blahblkah blah scheme... It was really funny because I would get these when posting clothes for free! but fill up my inbox they did........

I'm impressed with the amount of time this woman (if it is one) has put into this scam. I wonder if she is making any money at it. Is anyone good at tracking IP addresses?

Here is Ellen's latest scam. She used the username yvonne67 for freecycle. She states that she has a Yorkie puppy for free. When we replied to her freecycle ad here is what was said:
Hello,
Oh!You are a bit late to inquire on Geisha.She was given to one "Mrs Ellen Defrank" from Siloam Springs,Arkansas but I think you can still have her 'cos she recently message us that she doesn't have chance and much time to take good care of Geisha at present due to the nature of her new job,so she decided to re-home her back home as we're not allowed to own a pet anymore by our landlady.

She is just 13weeks old yorkie and she is house broken,AKC Registered,she is healthy and completed on her shots.She has taken all her shots and love the company of kids and other pets.You can contact her via [email protected],if you're willing to take her from Mrs Ellen but make sure you will take good care of her.

So we replied to [email protected] and here is what she had to say.

Hi,
I learnt you are interested in Geisha.She's still very much
available for new home.She has taken all her shots and love the
company of kids and other pets.I live in Siloam Springs,Arkansas and I
want to offer Geisha a new home because of my new job with a family
that will be able to devote time for her.

I will only give her to someone who can take good care of her
because I'll always ask about her well-being even when you have her in
your care,so as to ascertain she is with good family.You can advise me
with your name, address or the nearest airport and phone number,so I
can inquire on how to get her to you at the airport.

Both of these people replied to my email within a couple of hours. This is what set me off to knowing it was a scam. Usually when someone has something on freecycle, they dont respond to any one person right away because they have many different responses to their offer. So I decided to look up "free yorkie scam Arkansas Freecycle" and was led here to confirm this scam. I caught another person that replied to this freecycle offer and warned her and gave her this forum post. So now Ellen is apparently living in Siloam Springs.

I replied to her and told her that my aunt lives in Sil. Springs and is coming for a visit next week and would be glad to pick the puppy up. I wonder what she will say to that... I bet she has an excuse... I also asked her if she knew of any other puppies that are up for free because my mother wants one... lol I bet she has another one to give away.
