freedom ranger taste

Thanks for the advice. That may be the thing. Trying some cornish next.
You are used to the taste of the Cornish, that is what is in the store. The ones you raise yourself are much healthier, do not let yourself be convinced by others, try them yourself. Home-raised Cornish are healthy, fed what you want, cleanly processed at home without suffering. They take a little care, and I am interested in the Rangers, because the Cornish-X are not recommended for our altitude, heart issues. I will be trying the Red Broilers here in mile-high Prescott, AZ.

Us old folks like the stronger taste. Younger people, who did not cook in the 70's or earlier, never have tasted real chicken! Start with the Cornish, then young (8-week old) Leghorn. The little leghorn is tender, split in half & broiled or BBQ'd. Only about a pound, like a game hen, with more taste.

Ok. Good. Not just me. Next time I am cutting skin off. Pungent. Yes. But it was just the skin I think. I feel sane again.
I didn't enjoy the red broilers/freedom rangers either. They smelled pungent when cooking to put it nicely.
The Cornish X are my go to from now on.

I bet you are right! Will work the steps. Thanks for letting a young'n know!

Now I’m worried I won’t like my freedom rangers... we will see!
Process them young. The store chicken you get is about 52 days old! Like the other poster, you can work up to older, tastier (some say gamey) flavors in time. I like to cook them in a pressure cooker when they are older layers & roosters.
