That's what I got! 6 freeloaders!

We are anxiously awaiting our first egg, however, the girls are holding out.

They are still young I guess, about 18 weeks or so, but still. Push one out already.

The only hen close is the Barred Rock, who is beginning to sing the egg-laying song. At least I am assuming that's what the.....
brokk, brokk, brokk, bbbbrrrrrooooookkkkk! noise is!

i hear ya there i got 25 free-loaders and only 2 that are laying so far

Please, I have 5 who are 28 weeks and still no dang eggs. I think I could produce an egg faster than they can. Eventually freeloaders end up in the freezer.

I have so many "free loaders" that every time I lay down the scratch in the morning i think " 60 birds and 10 eggs a day, now that's not right".

However, I really enjoy the little turds and I know the roos are having a nice life.

I recently unloaded about 12 chickens, roos and layers to a freind.

He says they are happy little critters on his farm and the eggs are comming.

I have about as many Guineas as i do layers now, but these guys are "working fowl". They are out in the pastures taking care of the ticks the Miniature horses would otherwise be wearing.

It is quite the sight seeing about 3 to 6 Guineas following the Minis around chasing bugs they brush up.

We have 120 chickens. We get <6 eggs a day. That is because we have 30 chicks and the adults are as old as 9 1/2!

I have two blue orps that have just started to lay at 26 weeks. I have two comets that layed at 16 weeks. All chickens are different and take their own good easy time. I would be more concerned if they had been steadily laying and then quit. then they would be free loaders. I would also look for a problem; disease, insect, molting or broodiness. Gloria Jean
