Freeze Drying Digest

Thanks, I ordered...
Make sure you install it the right way up.
I never had a siphoning problem when I ran a short hose into a bucket. The water that drained out never came close to the house. But now I have a hose that runs across the room, around the corner and down the utility drain. Sometimes all the water doesn't drain out. So when you open the valve it TRIES to suck air from the tube, but just moves that remaining water towards the machine. It never gets close, but why risk it?
This valve allows air in and water down.
Easy.

So which end of the hose do you put it on? Assuming the very end? (I didn't get much time to look at it closely)

I have been taking my hose off when I release the vacuum. That was working great for me until I forgot to put the hose back on for the defrost. 🥴🤣

I have been absolutely loving my freeze dryer. It's running a batch of experimental white peach slices right now plus one tray of tomatillos and one tray of raspberries.

If we like the peaches, that tree gets a vote to stay. I do not like the peaches that tree makes. DH is going to make jam with what is left today. If it's good, it gets a second vote. But if we don't like the products then the tree is getting dug up and given away. We talk about this every year, but this is the year to finally decide.

I bought an extra set of harvest right trays for my machine and the stacking lids. I also got the tray dividers and stacking feet.

I am noticing that in the jars that have oxygen absorbers that are "correctly sized" for the jars, they appear to still have oxygen. I put the test dot cards into the jars that got the recommended cc packets for them and they are still dark in color after two weeks. These were all vacuum sealed as well. So I'm not getting any more 50cc sized ones. What I have left, I will use for gift jars and bags.
