Freezer Camp For The Whole Flock!!!!!!!!!

Are they getting 12 to 14 hours of light. My hens stop laying within 1 or two weeks of the days shortening If we do not put the lights on in the coop. I have a winter coop and a summer coop(Summer Coop is closer to field with no electricity for free ranging they love the ticks/ Winter coop close to house with electrity and more space for the winter months). ???? My new girls are not laying yet but they will in time the older girls are on there way out. Make shore they have 12 hours of brite light daily.

Well again. Since some of you are just coming in on the last few posts I will say again. There will be no freezer camp for the ladies. Just gonna wait for the spring and see what happens. So again, thanks for all the good advice. Much appreciated.

To all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am on Christmas break after today and probably won't be back on here till the new year. Off to the deer lease, well and duck hunting.

George, you might want to ask a mod to lock this, so they leave you alone, hopefully they start laying but if they don't enjoy how they taste, your birds your choice.

Obviously some folks have only scanned over / read a few pages of this thread. (not saying you, Buck Creek Chickens)

But, George already said he'll give the hens till February to produce. So why lock the thread that has provided some insight and humor?

Relax and enjoy the Holidays Everyone,

George, you sound as if you are trully blessed. Good Hunting!

Mr. George has worked this thread like a master. We need more like him. 14 pages and about 4 were from George. Nah, no locks, nice thread. George knows how to live. He will be back, he is as amused as the rest of us IMO. LOL

It's been a fun post.

The full range of emotion and opinion has certainly been expressed on this thread!! Have a Merry Christmas, George...check back in after the first of the year.....

This was a funny thread. I think you're wise for giving the hens more time to prove themselves. Mine are 26 weeks old and no eggs yet, either. Oh well.

Wow, this thread has a wide range of opinions in it! We should be supportive of the decision that George made regardless. (I am glad he chose the "wait until spring" option though). I can see where he is coming from with the no egg thing because my girls I got as dayolds in April have just begun to lay. They finally have their adult plumage and since we dont give them artificial light, they lay as they please. Patience is the key.

To the members that thought George was a possible troll, there is a nifty little Report button that contacts a moderator. Instead of posting a reply about a "maybe" troll, a moderator like Speckledhen or Wynette should have been contaced PRIVATELY and been notified of the situation. Personally I find this thread hilarious but its my honest opinion.
