How do I keep the locks from freezing every a.m.? Today I had to pour hot H2o on them -not wanting to do this every day.. also some say keep poop in the coop for insulation and keep adding bedding to it.. I'm not too fond of that also have been reading it adds humidity.. this is my 1st winter with the 7 girls here in Mass..

I looked it up and found this, http://www.ehow.com/how_2083662_prevent-lock-from-freezing.html

It says a good idea in the winter would be to place duct tape over the keyhole and a plastic bag over the entire lock.
Let us know what you do and good luck!

Another method is to submerge your lock into a container of car antifreeze or squirt same into the lock. Good Luck.

The trick is to keep Humidity and Ventilation in balance. When humidity rises you are at risk for frostbite in the cold.
