Freezing Ponds

Do you think the ducks are smart enough to not sleep in their pool when it's cold enough to freeze? Will they get frozen in?

Awesome question! Wouldn't their body heat keep the water immediately around them open?

Is it a swimming/kiddie pool or an actual pond? Unless the temps drop very quickly, the ducks being in it should keep it from freezing. My ducks are on a pond, and they are always on the water when it is very cold. They kept it from freezing over completely last winter, which made the horses (and my dad

) very happy
