Freezing pumpkins

When prepping my freezer for this years harvest, I gave the girls the last of the 2010 pumpkins.... cooked and mushed. If I can find the room (I have 3 small freezers) I'm going to do it your way!!! Much easier.

well he just helps himself when im seeing to the baby he totters off and gives them bread or dog biscuits i am going to do them a cuboard, (same as the dogs) of better options so then he can give them stuff till his hearts content. its lovely that he loves them but i get images of these fat football shaped birds lol thankyou

Can you break down the pumpkin nutritional value? I'm trying to come up with a broiler and layer ration, homemade and pumpkins could be a very cheap, seasonal part of the ration. Since I'll get a batch of broilers for the fall, I'd love to have pumpkins on hand, especially for the broiler feed.
Thanks!
Also, do you mix you're own feeds? Do you by chance have some sample recipes that you could pm me?

Pumpkins store great, don't worry if you don't have a root cellar, or some where that is "cool". I left my on my back porch and they lasted until feb, march. I was growing a giant varitey for fund and afterwards saved them for my chickens. One got wet and that was the end of it, so make sure that you keep them dry and check on the every week. if one is getting soft or doesn't sound as hollow as before use it first.

As for freasing pumpkins you really should blanch them first, Then freeze.

Tracydr, from looking around I can find this information on pumkins.

Carbs (83.3%)
Protein (13.9%)
Fat (2.8%)

I've never fed pumpkins to chickens though so I apologize for not having much information on the subject. I also can't seem to find a recipe for feed that includes pumpkin in specific amounts but I will keep looking.
