French frogs

Just candled and 13/16 look good. Two clears were fridge eggs, and One was from an EE that had shell irregularities and probably shouldn't have set anyways.

Bummer in that I only had 3 Orloff eggs from Peep - all from the fridge, and only one is good. Oh well, If I hadn't pulled eggs out of the fridge I wouldn't have any of hers cooking at all.

Will set more eggs in March so we'll see what I have by then.

When are they due again?

Valentine's day - 2/14.  You'll have a batch due somewhere that week too, right?
Same day :D
I think WV is due that weekend as well. My second batch will be due on the 18th. I think I'm going to set a batch of cuckoo marans in one of the next sets. I can sex them early, so I'm going to start stocking up on pullets for the spring

Actually, I think you should put a few of your Cuckoo Marans in with your Splash Ameraucana and send me EE eggs at the end of the month, along with OE eggs from your Blue boy/BCM pen.

Speaking of that, business is booming. I'm getting referral customers now, and the AMs are a hot ticket. I'm on the waiting list for BCM from the same place Sidewing got his, so I'm going to have some really nice birds by the end of the summer. I think shipping is going to be something I will start doing later this year, so I emailed the state NPIP director last night :hide

Awesome! There are a ton of AMs here for sale - but they are all really EEs. The people have been selling them for a long time though, and refuse to hear any education on the difference between AMs and EEs. Seems like the "regulars" buy day-old chicks from the hatcheries and re-sell them for a slight profit.

I'm just a hobbyist, but like to have the best birds I can in my little flock. But due to my space and time limitations, am trying to decide whether it would be worth it to even attempt to keep pure birds - except for fun.

Have to say my 1/2 Cuckoo EEs are the best all-around birds I have. Wish I had a bunch more of them!

Edit: typos. haven't finished my coffee!

Same here on AM/EE. I don't FB, so I have to advertise on CL. I think my ad is pretty good at stating what the birds are without bashing EEs, and I think there are a lot of people that are learning the difference. I'm getting a lot of calls. So far, if I have an 80% hatch rate, I'm booked through mid March :D
