French frogs

Float test only shows the eggs are older an the air cell has grown, bot that they're bad...

Unwashed eggs on the counter are usually good for about a month, unwashed in the fridge can stay good for several months...

Awww that's horrible.  This one isn't so glue-like.  It was just kinda snotty lol!  He was getting around fine this morning, so I think he'll survive.  I hope the bubble goes away.

I noticed a couple bent toes.  I hope I don't have to make booties!  :D

I meant to comment on that also.  I have wayyyy too many eggs right now.  I usually bring them to work and give away, but hadn't had time to pack any up.  I usually end up scrambling or hard boilding them for the birds when they get several weeks old, if we haven't used them, or I haven't given them away.  But I've eaten some that were probably 6 weeks old with no bad taste.  How old did you say those were?

They were a month old at the most but wouldn't farm eggs last several months like store eggs??

I know, but I still cull them that way :gig
Wow! Well what happened to eggs being good for several months?!?
What Ravyn said. Mine are unwashed, unrefrigerated

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! Well, that is how it goes sometimes. I hope all the others are doing fine. Bet the Mrs. Is hovering over them for sure now!
Last fall we bought 5 chicks from the feed store. They were EEs but we didn't know any better. Advertised as LF Ameraucana pullets. They were a day old. Out of those 5 we ended up with 2 roosters in the bunch, another one had a severe crooked beek. It was sad. She just couldn't eat & after a few days of working with her it was obvious she was gonna starve so the DH had to destroy her. It was sad because she was still very active but I didn't want her to suffer. And our first ever baby chicks...that we got as hatchlings. Out of those 2 survived Lil Red, & Cloud. They are super mutts but are beautiful & amazing & Lil Red is the friendliest bird we own! When we bought them we didn't even have a brooder set up!
But now.....I'm gonna be a nervous wreck! We ordered 20 babies from a very reputable breeder who wins at the shows also! Recently with a black cockerel & a blue wheaten pullet. The black won National! I'm so excited!
I have ordered 8 blue wheatens, 7 blacks, & 5 blues! And l can't wait! He said he would probably throw in a few extras just in case...a relief to know that if I do lose any there are a few extras!
I have rode horses all of my life & broke them professionally between the age of 12 & 15 including our own. We have also had many German Shepherds throughout the years. I have a porcelain German Shepherd dog collection to die for too. On live shepherds we have had several flakes....& several einsteins! We also love Shetland sheepdogs, the little shelties. They are so precious!!!
And then there's my love for John Wayne! We won't go there! Lol. Hope you have a good weekend!

The 2 cockerels we rehomed. Out of the 5 we only lost crooked beek, but also only ended up with 2 keepers...

Thanks. My wife is heartbroken that was her favorite chick. I loved the EE's I had a long time ago, in fact a blue hen was one of my top five favorite birds. That's why I'm getting AM babies from Flock this weekend.

Make sure you post pics of your chicks when they arrive.

Thanks Ravyn, that's what I thought...maybe I had a bad one in the bunch or just fed way too much garlic!

I've never had to throw any eggs away....I use the oldest ones for baking with....I've been boiling all my frozen eggs during this last arctic blast...for the dogs.

Wise idea especially with your bone chilling temps! I shiver just thinking about it! Thanks for the info!
