dang. sorry........
was so caught up in my "mad", missed this.........
Thanks WV and Ravyn. I'm not an Orloff "breeder", just a hobbyist. So I'm a little bummed, not a huge tragedy. Was hoping to get a few more on the ground so I could grow out and keep the best Quad next year. I got three from last batch - super hard to sex for a looooooong time, and we'll see what I get from this batch.
All the Valentine's babies are thriving though, so I should have a few more layers toward the end of the year - unless they are all cockerels. :/
Just got a text from hubby. Too many quail to count accurately. He's saying 6-8ish. His words "a little gaggle of em"![]()

Somebody come finish this invoice for me so I can go home!!
(I know, if I weren't posting, I'd be closer to done, but my eyes needed a break!)
Hello all. Does anyone know who supplies chicks for Tractor Supply and Family Farm and Home?
My first 20 chicks are from FFH and I had one just for. I went to TS and they made me buy 6 chicks or none. 2 died within an hour of getting them home. Not to mention even for Bantam chicks these things are TINY! Like the side of a fifty cent piece. Is that normal? Fyi new the chickens so thanks in advance.

Dan, at this point I wouldn't trust any of the ones you got from that guy to be pure anything... sorry...
Sorry to hear that. I have the same issue with my BCM eggs so far. Keep coming up clear on the first two batches. I took out some of the roos favorites to encourage a couple new relationships. So I'm trying to decide whether to cull one or both of my roosters, so I candled my Orloff eggs. Looks like none of the shipped ones are doing anything and some of mine are clear, too.
Looks like I'll be keeping one for a while longer.
I stopped believing that when the "Australorps" started to get feathered feet. They were just bought for eggs anyway.Dan, at this point I wouldn't trust any of the ones you got from that guy to be pure anything... sorry...
