My BO hen did that in January, took February off, and has started laying again in March.

I suppose I will keep them a bit longer then.

Was it always this way? Because it seems two people should be able to have an intelligent discussion without it turning violent. I can understand things getting heated (We are in strong disagreement in this house over polotics) but it seems like no one knows how to disagree civily anymore.

I'm still waiting on the first silkie. Its been pipped for over 20 hours now. But its still moving the original chip, so it still is alive. The second one knocked a piece off, and I could see blood. Must have nicked a vessel, but I've seen it poke its beak out a few times. Ugh I hate the waiting!!

Nice hatch so far!!

Be careful with hardware cloth. I did that and a chick got caught trying to get over to the other ones. It got a cut on its neck. I just about culled it right then because I thought there was no way it would live, but I doctored it instead and it recovered. I'm going to try those plastic fruit cups this time.

Hardware cloth for dividers works best if you double it over and keep the fold as the top edge... and as high as possible... think it's best when used in the styrobators as there's more head room...
