French frogs

Not really sure, but from what I've read shipped eggs going up in altitude often have a 10% hatch rate. This time I got just about that, last time 5/29 so 17% (But no issues on the survivors.) I'll go over my notes, but I'm not sure I'd do anything differently. Maybe have a higher humidity the first 3-4 days.

Next week I'll be hatching some shipped Barnevelder eggs for someone else and she knows the risks and my results. She's had similar results, and one 0/12 hatch. But since I'm 2,000 feet lower than she is, it's worth it for her to take the risk.

And X2 on Eve. Hope she is up and about soon!
I am about 1,000 feet lower than you, and even people around here have mentioned the problems with high altitude hatching. It is almost enough to start trying to order day old chicks, if possible. Although that can be fairly difficult to find quality breeders who will ship chicks. I guess my other option is to do as Sidewing did and order breeding age birds and just try to hatch out replacements as fast soon as I can.

I hope so! You literally helped me breathe a sigh of relief! Thanks Ravyn! I figured it was not gonna be a big deal but...she really acts like she's " on her last leg"! Even though she's eating and drinking.
Everyone here has huge things going on on their lives with loved ones, and Spice..poor Spice. Is she in Heaven now? I hate to ask. I know how much she meant to you.
Thanks Deb

When it happened last night she stepped back and was standing on both legs, I just had no freakin idea I had chopped off her little toe! But maybe a rogue chick finished it off. Lol, not lol!

You should see a poult with an injured toe... it's like a little kid with a skinned knee, lol... see next post for duck update... ;)

I've thought of that, too. I really don't want to order a ton of chicks I don't have space for, so a pair or trio of nice birds is definitely an option.

Spice is actually getting stronger... still having head control issues and vision is unknown currently, but she is still fighting... and now she is fighting the tubing even... I am extremely amazed at her spirit, I seriously don't know how she is doing it...

Got a pic of my one little girl's foot with missing toe. I'm guessing it was a problem at hatch. Doesn't seem to bother her at all.
I've named her Harriet :)

Oh my gosh! And she can roost just fine!! Im so glad! And I had wondered if Eve would be able too! How old is she? weeks? Her foot looks huge is that just the close up? Does she walk with a limp?
