Yeah I've never hatched anything before.... This was definitely a first for me..... Putting another dozen in Monday out Tuesday... Already got the eggs ready..... Then I want to hatch something new....... Little ducks....
Your tired???..... I'm sloooooow..:lau
Nope just sloooow here....:)

Phil, that is an awesome first hatch! And you did it well!! :celebrate

:barnie Someone send broody hormones to Frieda, stat! I can't tell if she's been laying in that darn pen lately or not--when I do find eggs in there, they are in a corner, but Frieda's a great digger, so she's either not laid anything for a few days, and sporadically before that, or there's possibly over a dozen eggs buried... The getting-to-know-you pen, where I moved her to the last time she went broody (and broke her when I didn't want to) and have kept her since so I don't have to move her again does get less light than the rest of the coop, simply because the lid (which is most of the top) is plywood. Plenty of ventilation, though--2 sides are fully hardware cloth, and the pop door has been covered with hardware cloth (the chickens use the people door anyway...) and is only closed when it's raining sideways.

Oh, and I'm not here--I've started my annual online scoring job...

Deleted a bit too much... Though I just realized that, if snagging the "Originally Posted by" thing works, it'll be pointing to the wrong post, but at least it'll call Ravyn...

I have broody's falling victim left and right... seriously... at least 20 right now... if I could send you a couple along with the eggs, I really would...

I want to get you those eggs... but the Marans are the biggest pigs ever... they consume the most feed, they're personalities are absent, and although the roo is not aggressive he is the biggest dork ever...

I can send eggs for a little while longer, but running out of time... :/

So I got eggs from Walnut yesterday!!! 29 of the 33 eggs were intact. Wiggly air cells, and some rolling, but we'll see how they do. I set 7 of my own eggs with them. I got 3 out of four thermometers reading 99.5 degrees, and about 30-35 percent humidity according to zoomed hygrometer. Here's hoping I can get some of those fluffy little puff balls.

good luck FB
