He's beautiful!

Happy new year frogs!

Miserable weather in South Texas 45° and misting it's sprinkling rain.

Got the hovabator set up and I am currently getting it up to temp

Bert, where in South Texas are you? We'll be heading back down to Harlingen around April. Good luck with the new incubator!

Only around 65-70 cows. And all the stock associated with it. It's a 4the generation dairy with my dad, and it's probably going to end there. Too hard to compete at that size and expansion isn't feasible.

That's sad. I hate to see small farms fade away. Is there a specialty market you could target?

Do any of these faces look like they're going to start laying any time soon (bought as day-olds at the feed store on July 11)?

OK, so the last is just a comb shot--I was lucky to get that! The rest is similar to the white one.

And the babies!

My dad has met with some people about going organic, but decided that at his age, and with no one in line to take over, that it wasn't worth it

You milk 120, and don't have milking machines?

Lord no, we are not a dairy. We have one Angus that has a large bag, we milk her for our own use during the summer. I considered getting a jersey, for our own use, but milking everyday by hand at this point in life is not feasible. I take it you are not interested in taking over the farm.

Those combs are reddening up nicely!! I'd say eggs will be soon, but could be up to a month still especially due to season right now...
