French frogs

I already have orders for the next hatch. This is a fertility test hatch. I was going to keep a few. What do you all charge for chicks? I sold this lot for $3 each as they are mostly mixes.

Still mixes or pures? $3 even for mixes is a bit on the light side... yours are worth more than feed store chicks... :D ;)

I always heard that Brinsea customer support was lacking compared to GQF. And I can attest that it's true.

I realize my Ova Easy 380 is a few years old (about 10) and my GQF 1402 cabinet is about 25 years old. I needed a thermostat, a turner motor, a clock motor, and indicator lights for my GQF. Readily available from GQF and from many resellers.

I needed a turner motor for my Ova Easy. Sorry, not available because it's old. Okay, what are the specifications? We can't tell you that, it's proprietary. I can tell (thanks to my handy dandy multimeter) that it's a 12v output on the controller, so all I need is torque spec and RPM to complete the tray tilt in the alloted time.

"It doesn't matter, but the original was 2 RPM (and some ridiculous torque figure appropriate for a power window motor)". So...all the 12v 2 RPM gearmotors available are $80 or so. I buy, for testing, a $10 12v turner motor from Incubator Warehouse designed for little tabletop incubator turners. The design of the Ova Easy is that the turner motor rotates a threaded rod. Not much torque is needed, no matter how loaded the trays are. The bitty motor turns it just fine, except 2 RPM will not complete the necessary number of turns in the timer circuit allotted time. The tray moves about 1/2" from horizontal in a couple of minutes.

There is a timer jumper, so I set that to the longest possible time. The tray now moves about 3/4" from horizontal in the alloted time.

I found a 50 RPM 12v motor on eBay and will be ordering it from Hong Kong. That will fix the issue. Big thumbs down to Brinsea, who make wonderful products and don't support them.
