It's ok, it wasn't one of those that totally put me down, I just couldn't get rid of it. I tried everything but Relpax because I try to save them as long as I can. Finally took one at 5 yesterday, and it was gone by 6

I wasn't around much yesterday, so maybe I missed it, but the new rooster is to replace the haybale attack at camp, isn't it? I'll tell you what impressed me about him. Look at that picture closely, his feet are on the ground. That's a confident man

I actually noticed that you weren't around much, and thought to myself "I hope he didn't get a migraine!" Seriously!

Yes, he is Big Guy's replacement, which is why I didn't have time to quarantine him. And he does seem confident!

He was an "extra" that she had. Hung out in her barn with his brother and one hen, so given 5 girls, I could tell he was alllll up for it!

I did my 7 day candle last night.
Jack: 10/11

Johnny: 2/14

I'm at the point with him that if I had a replacement, he would come out. It's killing me because he's such a beautiful bird, but he's not getting the job done. I'm going to give him a few more weeks, maybe set some of Silas' after the Thursday hatch, and see if the vitamins I started them on help at all. I still have Josh, but he has those leaky brown feathers, so I don't want to put him in that pen. I could also put those hens with Jack, but they are already a lighter blue and I don't want to breed them to a splash. I think I'm just going to leave him where he is until one of my blue or blacks grow up and then try another rooster.
I've already messaged Sidewing and told him what is going on. He's getting a dozen eggs from Jack, but the rest are Johnny's. If he doesn't get some from those eggs, I'm going to send him more of Jack's when his hatch is complete

Sorry to hear that. So... he is performing, just not bringing down the curtain, correct?

Would a temporary mix-up with the girls help? Add another one or two to Johnny's pen? Or take a couple away? Or throw a brown egg layer in there just to re-focus his attentions?

Just trying to think of options to stir things up a little.

But don't rule out the girls. Have they ever had a different co... rooster?

I'm not ruling out the girls, but they are all from the same first batch as Jack's girls. I would think if they had issues, Jack's would, too. I was so disappointed yesterday that I almost pulled him out and put Josh in there, but there's no reason to be breeding a bird that I know has an issue. The incubator I candled last night was on day 6, so I'm going to let it ride and hatch what I can. Incubator #2 hatches Thursday, so after that I think I'm going to set 24 of Silas'. I can sex those early, so the pullets always sell quick. By the time the next incubator hatches, Johnny and the girls will have a month of Nutri Drench and warmer weather, so I'll try again
