French frogs

Morning Glories! How's everyone? Any news on Spice? I had to recoop my birds yesterday evening when I saw an air predator in the woods nearby. Hope it's not nesting there.

Oh no! Get your pitchfork ready anyway. I think its that time of year.

I hope Moonshine is taking care of my girls. I'll go check on them today.

knock on wood, we have always been lucky I guess when it comes to haybales.

they hunt over our pastures, but never venture close to the chicken yard.

I had a Coopers Hawk perched on my shed right beside my coop a year or so ago. He was just sitting there watching my birds. I accidentally trapped the same Coopers Hawk on two occasions on a grain bin a few years ago. He pushed his way into a one-way door trap I had set for pigeons. Ate the pigeon. He was banded and released by a research scientist and the next week I caught him in the same trap. Those little hawks are so aggressive.

Every year the mama red tail leads her fledglings to sit on the top rail of the dog kennel I use as a pen. They can't get in the top so they sit and stare, or pace around the outside waiting for an idiot to stick her head out. Putting shade cloth over the top really cut down on them hanging out and watching.

Last week a turkey vulture on the migration north stopped in the walnut tree over the pen and stayed there for a couple of hours. I guess he saw an easy meal too. We don't have the shade cloth up yet as it doesn't do that well in heavy snow loads when hung flat.

We candled 21 eggs on day 15. Only pulled two and left a questionable one.

The EEs? I can't wait to see this hatch. They are throwing some really pretty colors
I know they can pull through a lot, but she got pierced in the head...

We'll see...

Have you seen the claws on a haybale up close? They look like needles. So sorry for your girl

First post on the thread, and it's awesome! You may stay
