My update: The last one that hatched around midnight had a herniated navel, about the size of a pencil eraser. I put a little triple antibiotic ointment on it and pulled the two earlier hatchers out to the brooder. That first crazy Orloff was walking all over everyone, and I wanted the navel guy to get some rest!
I had 4 out and 2 pips at 4:40 this morning. Need to go see what's up in the incubator now.

I think the trick is to keep the navel uninjured long enough for it to heal on its own. He's fluffy and active. Seems to be doing fine so far.Is that navel a tough thing to heal? Hope everything is going well.![]()
