French frogs

They've been running in and out of the brooder box for over a week. They are so funny- They'll run out into the run as fast as they can and then turn around and run back into the coop.

Moved their water into the safe house and will feed them in there once a day. The rest of the day they can eat the flock raiser in the run.

We'll see how it goes!

Cute little ones scampering around!

Building a safe house in the coop for the tweenagers. They don't know it, but they are getting kicked out of the brooder space in the coop by the end of the week.
400

Gotta kick 'em out the nest! :)

Is that the ol', "You ain't gotta go home, but you can't stay here" approach? I never understood those that are so hesitant to move their babies out and want to keep them inside forever -- I think I start counting the days to moving them out the day they move in.......
Corn, it was but in the week before easter

Nice - I've not seen anyone plant corn with a barrier like that, good thinking!

Too bad they aren't cute at all...

:lau      :love

Nope... not a one! :lau

:gah: Hit by cuteness by both Halves :gig

I was tempted to do my usual "Want but can't have" thing over on FB, but thought better of it...

I told my older daughter that she doesn't have to share *everything*--she was throwing up all afternoon yesterday, and sure enough...

So here is my duplex brooder:

There are 71 one week old chicks in the upper unit and they cover about 25% of the floor space. They decided to be shy for the camera, except one Lav Am up front. Temps in the box range from very cool to warm and cozy and they are free to move around. Just in time, too, as there are 27 more Easter Eggers hatching tomorrow, and I still have about 18 underperformers inside getting a chance to advance without competition, and another 60 turkeys hatching over the next couple of weeks.

I LOVE IT! Sliding doors? You didn't happen to write down the schematics did Ya? ;) Really good work. Those corner braces will hold me and My four sons. :thumbsup.

The corner braces let me assemble it in the kitchen where it was warm while I was sick, and knock it down by removing six screws into panels.

The sliding doors are $8 adjustable window screens. They and the OSB doors are also hinged, so I can open the full front of each level to remove the wire tray, or can open the slider just a few inches to add food or replace water.

I do have the schematics, and for once I actually followed them until I started ad-libbing.

The top door is hinged differently due to variations in the existing coop wall.
