Funny you mention that. I went out into the "swarm" now that the chicks are out of the brooder and onto the floor. While I stood, they made for the edges of the space. I squatted, and the most dominant BCM/EE came up to challenge me. And he is all of four inches tall at the shoulders.

Dean Koontz is good and I have read some Terry Brooke's. Very addictive

Funny you mention that.  I went out into the "swarm" now that the chicks are out of the brooder and onto the floor.  While I stood, they made for the edges of the space.  I squatted, and the most dominant BCM/EE came up to challenge me.  And he is all of four inches tall at the shoulders.

lol... they recognize the face from hatching... hands and body are disconnected predators to them... they say tabletop brooding is best, but can be done just fine from above, all it takes is a few extra seconds and thought...

Lady Grey and Crash have their babies outside right now... I walked over and crouched down to watch them and they all swarmed over to sit in my shadow shade, lol...

I've heard good things about Piers Anthony, but haven't tried his books yet. If you like Stephen King & Dean Koontz, I highly recommend Jeffrey Deaver. I've read everything he's written. I've read everything King wrote through about 2001. Dan Brown (Da Vinci Code) has written a lot of good books. I also like John Grisham a lot. I go through books too fast. I no longer pick up anything unless it has at least 450 pages.
