Had a pip in one of my cornish cross eggs this morning! Woohoo! Everybody cross your fingers and toes I'll have more pips when I get home from work!

that works! The CM is free movin now. I'm glued to the bator today. 18 pips and three hatchers now.

So, I neglected the Araucana pen a bit when the Ahole was still in residence so half the hens went broody on staggered eggs... when they started hatching, we found out we had some homicidal broodys... ugh...

I wanted to scrap the eggs and restart, but OH pitched a fit... so he stuck all the 'close to done' eggs in the bottom tray of the Leahy... no water in it, and not really sure what the humidity in it is, but it's pretty dry... for the last week a couple times a day I open it to turn my other eggs and find a chick hatched in that bottom tray... luckily, our really good Am is broody so she has been getting these little buggers as they hatch...

Anyways, Turk, they are pipping, zipping and popping out with absolutely no issues whatsoever... I went with a full out no help, what happens happens attitude and she has a lot of chicks now... not sure exactly how many, but I think around 20...

Thanks, love! I am super stoked!! Only downside is that I'll have to pay for the travel and then get reimbursed. I have to go to NH for 3 days during my first full week of work (5/23, I start on 5/18) and then Elkhart IN 2 weeks later. Kinda tricky when we haven't had money coming in.

Good thing you have a good girl. I've never tried letting a hen go broody because it takes them out of production, and because it's catchy.

Cool that the Leahy is just doing its job! I love those incubators. Do the chicks just hop out and down to the bottom?
