It's going to be a couple of months before I have more EE eggs. I only have the old Buff Am hen and the Light Brahma/Am rooster as adults along with a bunch of Red Sex Links that make relatively boring EEs but I have about 50 of my chicks growing out. The oldest are about 8 weeks and there will be a LOT following along. But since your hens won't wait, it might be best to satisfy them with some local farmer's market eggs.![]()

Thanks! I'm amazed that she took them after being broody for 2 days--I was prepared to take them back into the brooder in my daughters' room last night, and then set up the MHP in the pen when it got a little warmer today. Or for Fudge to decide that s/he wasn't a chicken (I kept having to tell my younger one to put Fudge back in the brooder. There'll be a lot less chick handling now--Notepad is a little scared of broody!Frieda (I can't really blame her, though Frieda's mellowed some--I can forgo gloves and come out markless).

You could try day-old chicks from the feedstore, though not all hens will adopt, and I think normal broodies need to be broody a week or 2 first.

I know she can't countI just thought maybe time would have something to do with the ebb and flow of hormone levels
She did peck at the first one I tried giving her last night, but more in a "Something's approaching me in the dimness" way than a rejection way... So I lifted her wings and shoved them under that way![]()
